The Governance and Social Accountability program promotes citizen-led action to hold duty bearers accountable for public resource use and service delivery. It empowers citizens to meaningfully participate in decisions affecting their development and well-being. The program strengthens trust between leaders and communities by supporting inclusive, democratic, and responsive governance systems. It contributes to the timely, equitable, and cost-effective delivery of public services. Key approaches include Community Score Cards that bring together citizens and service providers to monitor service quality and co-create solutions. Social audits are used to enhance transparency and reduce corruption in public budgeting and policy processes. The program also applies Gender Responsive Budget Analysis to assess how county spending addresses the needs of women, men, and marginalized groups. Overall, it promotes accountability, service delivery, and equitable access to public goods.
