Tuwajibike Mtaani III

Tuwajibike Mtaani exemplifies the power of community-driven change, blending traditional dialogue with innovative, engaging methods like sports and media. Through these efforts, Mukuru Kwa Njenga and Kariobangi North are becoming a model for grassroots accountability, inspiring other communities to take an active role in securing their rights and creating a better future.

Tuwajibike Mtaani, which means ‘We Are Accountable in the Neighborhood,’is a social audit community-based program focusing on accountability and governance, strengthening grassroots organizations to hold duty bearers accountable. It aims to eradicate the social vices and human rights violations that deprive community members of the freedom to enjoy their fundamental constitutional rights. The program adopts an evidence-based approach, using sports as a tool for accountability, bringing together men, women, and youth from all walks of community life to co-create solutions to the primary challenges that they have faced. Our activities include community dialogues, focus-group discussions, a sports festival and a community-based podcast, all curated to create platforms that give community members a voice to air their grievances and concerns to relevant authorities. Tuwajibike Mtaani exemplifies the power of community-driven change, blending traditional dialogue with innovative, engaging methods like sports and media.
